New Year's Resolutions - Set Yourself Up for Success!

It is hard to believe, but another YEAR has come and gone! We are now facing the annual tradition for self reflection and the commitment to personal growth and improvement we call New Year's RESOLUTIONS. These upcoming goals are well-intended and often start with lots of enthusiasm, however, as LIFE happens and time passes, dedication and effort can wane contributing to an unsuccessful ending. Below are a few tips to help you stick to your Resolutions and revel in your SUCCESS:
1. Put it in writing - Jotting down your resolutions on paper makes them more tangible. Stick the reminder somewhere you see it often and can record your progress. Celebrate ALL your wins to keep yourself motivated and focused on the end goal!
2. Keep it manageable - Don't overdo it...choose a FEW important resolutions so you can focus on those and give them the attention they deserve. Too many items can become overwhelming and detract your energy from your most significant resolutions.
3. Be specific - It tends to be more of a challenge to achieve vague goals. Be specific. For instance if you want to lose some weight, note the number of pounds you would like to lose in a specific timeframe. "I want to lose 10 pounds in 2 months." This will also allow you to track your progress and CELEBRATE your success!
4. Enlist support - Share your resolutions with close friends or family that will be able to encourage you. This is a great opportunity to motivate and hold each other accountable throughout your journeys! Joining a group of people with similar goals can also offer support and MOTIVATION.
5. Incorporate a routine - A routine will help you add structure and ensure that these habits become your "new normal". Mark it on your calendar, set yourself reminders or use apps to help track progress. Repetition can be a powerful tool in your path to SUCCESS!
Choose resolutions that you are PASSIONATE about so that you will be more committed to the outcome. Regularly assess progress and adjust goals as needed. When life throws you a curveball, don't be too hard on yourself - learn from it and keep moving FORWARD! Good luck on your upcoming personal growth and improvement!
